Delhi 6- Worth a Dekho

This movie came for me in a toss. Yes, really, as my kids and hubby wanted to see the other King Khan starter movie but eventually it was me who won the toss. And we headed for Delhi 6.
You can term this movie in the bracket of all the 'KJO' movies termed to woo the NRI audiences but , with difference. This movie is not at all picturised is Big Apple nor Pear. This takes you straight in bylanes of Chandni chowk or Old Delhi.
I have been to Delhi, but that time i didn't know where i was ( i was just 6 yaar) i do have some friends from Delhi and looking at them i can make out how the director ( who himself is dilliwala) has projected Old Delhi so well.
Small things like the cotton weaver, the chaotic traffic, the cows on streets , the Ram Leela etc reminds us of our childhood days. And for audience who watch the movie miles away from India sometimes yearn to go back.
Abhishek is a NRI lad who comes to India to fulfill his Grandmother( Waheeda Rehman's) wish to die on Indian soil. No sooner he lands he comes across the news heading of sighting a "Kaala Bandar" (Black Monkey). The director here has projected the Kaala Bandar to symbolise the beast within us. Our intolerable nature where brothers have built a wall in their house only to leave the gosipping co sister in laws ,how untouchability is still prevalent, and our total intolerance as far as religion is concerned. In total the movie is remarkably directed by Rakeysh and all the actors have played their part to perfection. Especially Abhishek is a brilliant !(blame Drona on the director, Please).

Sonam is very fresh and charming and AR Rahman's music is again 'Jai Ho'. Totally a must watch movie were the feel is "India Calling".
